TRACY PROCTOR is a Canadian mixed-media encaustic artist, and gallery director of Swirl Fine Art & Design, based in Calgary, Alberta.
" Drawing inspiration from nature and the mountainous region where I live, I taught myself how to paint mainly through trial, error and experimentation. Ten years of experience in the Interior Design industry influenced my love for color and composition and my formal education in business enhanced my ability to market myself.
A piece of art always starts with passion - delve deep into the spirit and conjure up images of the soul. I think a painting should draw you in, stir up your emotions, and carry you away. "
-T.Proctor
CHESTER LEES is a gifterd artist and teacher who instructs at the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts, Telus World of Science, Creative Kids Museum and the Glenbow Museum School. "Hidden treasures lie deep within the simpler things of life." -R.Kearl
ANGIE REES is a Calgary-based artist and muralist. Angie’'s career has been varied. She worked for many years in Calgary'’s vibrant theatre scene as a head scenic artist. She left that very busy career to attend to her “greatest achievement,” son Jack. Inspired by the birth of her son, Angie launched Eyewonder (her mural company) in 2001. She has painted countless walls and her murals are featured prominently in Ronald McDonald House and the Epcor Centre for Performing Arts. Although Angie has since retired from murals, her website eyewonder.ca can still be viewed.
In addition to an ambitious teaching schedule that mentors students at all levels in drawing and painting, Angie maintains a very busy studio practice and participates in many show and sales throughout the year. Angie’s work has been shown extensively throughout Alberta and she is represented in numerous collections far and wide.
Although she has painted for her whole life, she sought formal training from Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta where she graduated with her BFA in 1990. "These paintings represent my daydreams. They are a celebration of colour and imagination."

Tracy Proctor is a mixed-media encaustic artist and gallery director of SWIRL Fine Art & Design. Tracy's works experiment in the ancient art of surfacing panels and/or textiles with pigmented beeswax, also known as encaustic. Using both additive and reductive techniques, and working with hot and cold tools, Tracy reveals luminous and sculptural dimensions of Alberta's landscape.
Chester Lees is a Calgary based painter, performance artist, and arts facilitator. Chester's sculptural acrylic paintings offer distinctive views of the Alberta prairies, set moments around the storm. Her skilled technique articulates texture and surface, conveying an illusion of depth.
Lindsey Love is a Calgary based artist whose paintings are an open window to contemplative encounters with nature. Seeking beauty that transcends the ordinary, Lindsey paints the world she perceives - inviting observers to experience and enter the moment.
Chris Riley is an experimental portrait artist based in Spruce Grove, Alberta. She is influenced by her colourful experiences growing up in Hay River, N.W.T., and her exposure to the local First Nations culture. Chris' recent works with acrylic on canvas expressively intersect traditional imagery with vividly contemporary palettes and titles to reconfigure the Wild West.
Tammy Olsson is a Vancouver based artist whose process based and textural works are philoshophical landscapes offering windows of internalized reflection. Tammy often experiments with the interplay between serene blues and fiery reds. Tammy's artistic investigations are inspired by nature's organic shapes, colours and patterns.
Oksana Zhelisko, a native of Lviv, Ukraine, has been painting professionally for the past 10 years. She currently works from her studio located in Edmonton, Alberta. Her primary medium is oil and her main subject is female form in various stages, poses, and emotions. The images of women in her work can either be strong or weak, happy or sad, and often impudent and glorious, yet always desirable.
"My main goal as an artist is to express my feelings. Not each and every feeling or emotion, just the ones that hold me captive, those that are intertwined into my soul. Releasing them on to a blank canvas provides a catharsis of peace and serenity for me. One day, I hope to be able to execute what is inside me and transmit it to those who see my work so that my love and zest for life is what underlies all of my work." -O.Zhelisko
A native Calgarian, Rachelle Brady started drawing and painting from an early age using watercolor and acrylic. While she has always had a passion for art, it wasn’t until recent years that she has taken on a renewed interest in painting, receiving art instruction through local studios. This has helped her to develop her own style and technique, which has taken her to new dimensions. Her inspiration comes through her many travels and love of the outdoors, as she and her husband are avid hikers. Her paintings are designed to evoke emotion and to radiate contentment and happiness which she wants to share with others. “" It has been a lifelong dream to be an artist and share my passion with others. Now I am actually doing that!"” -R.Brady
Rachelle Kearl is a Calgary based artist. Her optimistic colour palettes, experimentation with mixed-media elements, and geometric abstractions of nature, offer viewers a whimsical interpretation of Alberta's complex landscapes. "Hidden treasures lie deep within the simpler things of life." -R.Kearl
Donna MacDonald is a Calgary based award-winning oil painter whose works integrate aspects of portraiture and landscape; depicting commonplace moments of life in Alberta. Layers of softened brushstrokes and glazes parallel the distorting effects of memory, creating potential for viewers to relate to Donna's imagery as shared experiences.
Sharon lives, paints and teaches in Calgary, and is a signature member of the Alberta Society of Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists and International Plein Air Painters. Sharon began painting oils 'en plein air' (in the fresh air) as she longed to escape the confines of her studio and connect once again with nature. In her plein air work she tries to capture what interests her the most in a scene and put it into an compelling design; focusing on simplifying shapes and filling them with interesting colour. Sharon’'s desire is that her paintings will transport the viewer into a pictorial world to connect with the majesty of Nature as she has done.
Anne Watson is a Calgary based artist whose gestural paintings are influenced by her interests in the natural world and its subtle beauty. Imagery depicts local trees and secret places, emphasizing natural light and irregularities in nature's designs. Anne is particularly influenced by the subtle colour palettes of Alberta, and quiet moments of solitude and contemplation with nature. Her works " remind the viewer of something elusive they may not even be aware they have forgotten ". -A.Watson
Angie Rees is a Calgary-based artist and muralist. Although she has painted for her whole life, she sought formal training from Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta where she graduated with her BFA in 1990. "These paintings represent my daydreams. They are a celebration of colour and imagination." -A.Rees
"I like to paint with bright colours and strong contrasts to stimulate the eye. I may even incorporate some symbology and a certain degree of abstract play to awaken the imagination. I love to paint about what matters, our essential connection to the natural world and the elements that make us individually or as a society who we truly are. Working with acrylic and experimenting with texture and mixed media I always attempt to obtain the mesmerizing effect of the light dancing on the surface." -L.Deselliers
Susan Thorpe is a Calgary based ceramics artist and member of the Alberta Potters Association. Her ceramic handthrown wares are finished with vibrant food and heat safe glazes. The outcome of each finished piece is unpredictable. Using locally mined clay from Medicine Hat and layered hand glazing techniques, patterns express abstractions of the Canadian maple leaf.
Sheila Schaetzle is a Calgary based painter from New Brunswick. Her confident gestural brushstrokes and use of vibrant colour palettes are influenced by her passion for nature and the joy of being in the presence of its splendour and beauty. Often working en plein air, Sheila hopes her works will inspire others to venture through forests, up mountainous ridges, and other secret places to admire the gaze. "“There is always something to see; even the shadows hold colours that echo the richness of the Earth." -S.Schaetzle
